Ingredients

Ice cream layers
  • 0.5 gallon chocolate ice cream Softened until spreadable.
  • 0.5 gallon vanilla ice cream Softened until spreadable.
Oreo crunch fudge middle
  • 20 Oreo cookies Crushed.
  • 0.5 cup hot fudge sauce Warm enough to mix into the crumbs.
Toppings
  • 2 cup whipped topping Cool Whip-style.
  • 0.5 cup chocolate shell or ganache For drizzling over the top.
  • colorful sprinkles For decoration; use as desired.

Equipment

  • 1 springform pan
  • 1 9x13 baking pan

Method

Freeze the chocolate base
  1. Spread the softened chocolate ice cream into the bottom of a 9x13 pan or 10-inch springform, then smooth the surface. Freeze for 1 hour until firm, with the layer looking set around the edges.
Make the fudge-soaked Oreo crunch layer
  1. Mix the crushed Oreo cookies with the hot fudge sauce until the mixture holds together when pressed. Spread the crunch layer evenly over the frozen chocolate ice cream so it looks level and compact.
Set the middle layer briefly
  1. Freeze the cake for 30 minutes to firm up the Oreo crunch layer. The surface should look matte and slightly set.
Add the vanilla ice cream top
  1. Spread the softened vanilla ice cream over the Oreo crunch layer and smooth completely. Freeze at least 4 hours, until the top feels firm and sliceable.
Finish and chill to serve
  1. Top with whipped topping and use gentle pressure to cover the vanilla layer evenly. Decorate with drizzled chocolate shell and colorful sprinkles so the top shows distinct swirls and speckles.
Final freeze
  1. Freeze at least 2 more hours before serving so each slice holds clean layers. The cake should be fully firm when lifted from the pan.

Notes

For the cleanest slices, keep the cake covered while freezing and let it sit at room temperature just 5–8 minutes before cutting. Store covered in the freezer up to 7 days; freezing works well for make-ahead (freeze longer for best texture). For a lighter version, swap in reduced-fat ice cream and a lower-sugar whipped topping while keeping the layering and freezing times the same.
