Ingredients

Strawberry Dole Whip
  • 2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 0.5 cup coconut cream or vanilla ice cream Use coconut cream for dairy-free soft serve.
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar or honey Choose powdered sugar or honey based on preferred sweetness.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 tsp salt Pinch of salt to balance flavor.

Equipment

  • 1 stand mixer

Method

Soften the strawberries
  1. Let the frozen strawberries sit for 5 minutes to slightly soften, keeping them cold but pliable, and look for a few softened edges.
  2. Blend the strawberries for 10 seconds first until they start breaking down, forming a thick slurry with visible pink streaks.
Blend to creamy soft serve
  1. Add coconut cream (or vanilla ice cream), powdered sugar (or honey), lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt, then blend until completely smooth and creamy with no frozen chunks.
  2. Taste the base and adjust sweetness by adding more powdered sugar or honey if needed, aiming for bright strawberry flavor without tasting sour.
Pipe and serve
  1. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe into cups for the classic Dole Whip swirl, forming tall ridges on the surface.
  2. Serve immediately because it will melt quickly, and finish with fresh strawberry as desired for a vivid, glossy pink presentation.

Notes

Pro tip: If your blender struggles, blend in short pulses until smooth, then finish with a full blend for a silky texture. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container up to 1 day; it will firm but won’t keep the same swirl. Freezing is not recommended because texture can turn icy. For a dairy-free swap, use coconut cream instead of vanilla ice cream for the same creamy softness while staying dairy-free.
