Ingredients

Ice cream base
  • 1 qt coffee ice cream Soften just until scoopable, not melted.
  • 1 qt chocolate ice cream Soften just until scoopable, not melted.
Mocha finishing
  • 0.5 cup chocolate ganache
  • 0.25 cocoa powder For dusting the top.
  • 0.25 whipped cream For serving.

Equipment

  • 1 9x5 loaf pan

Method

Prep and line the pan
  1. Line a 9x5 loaf pan with plastic wrap, leaving overhang on all sides so you can lift the loaf out later.
Swirl the ice creams
  1. Drop alternating large spoonfuls of softened coffee and chocolate ice cream into the lined pan.
  2. Run a knife through the two flavors in a figure-8 pattern to create a dramatic marble swirl—do not over-mix.
Freeze
  1. Smooth the top and cover with the plastic wrap overhang.
  2. Freeze at 0°F for at least 6 hours or overnight until completely firm.
Unmold, finish, and serve
  1. Lift out using the plastic wrap, then peel away and place the loaf on a serving board.
  2. Dust with cocoa powder and drizzle with chocolate ganache, then slice and serve with whipped cream.

Notes

For clean slices, let the loaf sit at room temperature for 3–5 minutes before cutting, then refreeze any leftovers. Store covered in the freezer for up to 2 weeks; freeze is yes for best texture. Dietary swap: use dairy-free coffee and chocolate ice cream to keep the same mocha swirl effect.
