Ingredients

Bomb Pop Cocktail Base
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup Use cherry-red grenadine for the bottom layer.
  • 1 oz coconut rum or vanilla vodka Choose either rum or vodka; pour gently to form the white middle layer.
  • 1 oz blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao Blue liqueur for the top layer; float carefully for clean separation.
  • 0.5 oz lemon-lime soda Add last as a small splash to lightly top off.
  • Ice cubes Fill the glass to the top to anchor the layers.
  • Maraschino cherry Garnish at the end.
  • striped straw Use as a garnish; helps sell the patriotic look.

Equipment

  • 1 cocktail mixing spoon

Method

Layer the cocktail
  1. Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice to the top so the layers stay stacked.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice so it settles at the bottom as the red layer.
  3. Hold a bar spoon just above the ice and slowly pour coconut rum or vanilla vodka over it to form the white middle layer.
  4. Pour blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao over the spoon again so it floats as the top layer.
  5. Add a small splash of lemon-lime soda, then garnish with a maraschino cherry and a striped straw—do not stir before serving.

Notes

Pro tip: pour each spirit down the spoon and keep the stream slow to prevent mixing; if you notice colors starting to bleed, pause and let the layer settle for a minute before continuing. Serve immediately for the cleanest tri-color look; refrigeration will cause layer blending (typically 0–1 day). No freezing is recommended. For a lighter option, substitute the 1 oz base spirit with an equal amount of coconut-flavored vodka or use diet lemon-lime soda for fewer calories if you’d like.
